Who are Maddie Mogen’s parents and how are they coping with her tragic death?

The 21-year-old business major from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, was a bright, bubbly, and beloved daughter, sister, friend, and girlfriend.

Her parents, Ben Mogen and Karen Caufield Laramie, have been devastated by the loss of their only child, but they have also shown remarkable strength and resilience in the face of unimaginable grief.

Maddie was born to Ben and Karen on May 25, 2001, in Oregon.

 

Despite their divorce, they remained on good terms and co-parented Maddie with love and support.

Maddie also had three sets of parents, as both Ben and Karen remarried and she became close to her step-parents.

Ben, who works as a software engineer, described Maddie as his true inspiration and said he was proud of her achievements and ambitions.

He has not entered a plea and is being held without bond.

They said they will always cherish the 21 years they had with her and honor her memory by living their lives with gratitude and compassion.
